August 2017 – This October, The Campaign for Wool’s annual Wool Week will mark its eighth year with an extended programme of events, exhibitions and interactive consumer moments with an exciting line-up of activities and initiatives designed to educate, inspire and promote the benefits of wool. This will run across sixteen days from the 7th – 22nd October.
WOOL FUSION – 7th -15th October
This year’s capstone event will be ‘Wool Fusion’ a curated look at the endless versatility and natural properties of wool. Featuring stunning wool photography and video content, fused with a collection of beautiful wool interior items and wearable pieces demonstrating the endless versatility and performance of natural wool in a plethora of products from fabulous fashion and functional clothing to furnishings, fabrics and flooring. A programme of workshops, talks and special events will be held throughout the exhibition at Carousel, 35 Baker Street, London – open 10.00am to 6pm daily with free admission.
RETAIL HIGHLIGHTS – 7th – 22nd October
Consumers across the country will have the opportunity to truly immerse themselves in the wonderful world of wool with this year’s many inspiring retail and partner initiatives – all designed to educate, inspire and promote the benefits of wool. Key retailers and designers will support the Campaign through wool windows and in-store activities across the UK including Brora, TM Lewin, Walker Slater, Finisterre, Smalls, Wool and The Gang. An exclusive pop up at Bicester Village, will host ‘The Collective’, featuring a selection of items from The Campaign for Wool’s retail partners. Iconic British brand, Jack Wills tell of their obsession with wool by commissioning a short film to sit alongside a series of events. John Smedley will release a collection for Wool Week ‘The Black Sheep x John Smedley’ which will be the first time they have used black sheep wool and hand knitting as a celebration of this unique fibre.
MAKING IT IN TEXTILES – 10th – 11th October
Leading textile industry experts and university students from across the country will gather in Yorkshire to discuss career opportunities within the textiles industry. This important initiative, which is sponsored by the Campaign for Wool provides mill tours, detailed discussions and access to industry expertise for the next generation of wool textile talent.
