wool in your environment

bedding

A sound night’s sleep is vital for your well being, you may be surprised to learn that wool bedding can actually benefit your health by providing a better quality of sleep. People who already sleep in wool bedding are the best testimonial to this; frequently reporting more restful sleep, more vivid dreams, less sleep disturbance and the phenomenon of one quilt keeping them warmer in the winter, yet cooler in the summer!

The Woolmark Company and research staff from University of Sydney’s Faculty of Health Science have performed a range of sleep experiments to better understand this incredible effect. Their results showed that sleeping in wool bedding can lead to 25% more deep regenerative sleep as well as maintaining a steadier heart rate and reducing humidity.

Wool also has a fantastic natural qualities making it ideal for bedding; antiallergenic, ideal for asthma sufferers (resists dust mites), washable, sustainable, help regulates body temperature and it is flame retardant. Studies have also shown wool bedding is beneficial to babies for sleeping and wellbeing.

Where bedding materials are concerned, it is the natural, renewable, health-giving wonder-fibre that can provide a genuine benefit to your wellbeing. Then, when your bedding has come to the end of it’s time, it can be returned to the soil as a non-toxic fertiliser. Choose wool, as nature intended!

"Having bought a duo wool duvet and mattress topper, I remarked to my husband that for the fourth night running since we have been sleeping under the duvet, the sheep have been giving me the most amazing dreams. I am no longer waking several times a night. His reply was that it is not the sheep, but the properties of the wool that are making me sleep deeper. I prefer to think of it as a gift from the sheep!! This honestly has been the buy of the century for us! I will be replacing all the duvets in our house, getting rid of the feather ones and getting wool mattress protectors...absolutely marvellous :-)"
