BRORA CREATES LIMITED EDITION JUMPER IN CELEBRATION OF WOOL WEEK

To mark The Campaign for Wool’s annual Wool Week, luxury Scottish cashmere and wool fashion brand, Brora have worked with university students to create a limited edition wool jumper.

Established in 1993, BRORA has become one of Britain’s best-loved modern cashmere and wool brands, offering a highly individual and immensely wearable collection of clothing and knitwear. With a focus on sustainable fashion, Brora have been keen supporters of The Campaign for Wool and their mission to raise awareness about the unique, natural and biodegradable benefits offered by the fibre since 2013.

This year, students at two Scottish universities were tasked with designing a jumper inspired by geometric shapes and the Bauhaus artist, Anni Albers who was credited with blurring the lines between art and craft, making textiles her main form of expression.

From over 20 entrants, Jasmine Cook, a final year Textiles student at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design was selected as the winner and will have her design knitted from 100% supersoft pure new wool Knoll yarn.

Jasmine says of her jumper design: “I designed this limited edition wool week jumper for women who are fashionable yet practical and care about sustainability and how their clothes are made.” “I was so inspired by the work of Anni Albers and also by the city which I live in, Dundee.  This has been my favourite project to work on yet as I have spent most of my time in the knit studio experimenting.  When I found out I won I was so excited and celebrated with my Textile friends.  This has been an amazing experience and I am so thankful to everyone involved.  I can’t wait to see my jumper.”

A limited run of 100 Campaign for Wool jumpers featuring Jasmine’s design will be available from Brora stores and at brora.co.uk from 7 October.
