The Royal Winter Fair

This is the 3rd year that the Campaign has partnered with The Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, the world’s largest indoor agricultural event. Sheep shearing demonstrations occurred regularly throughout the run of the Fair, to demonstrate the humane and sustainable processes involved in harvesting wool and educating about wool’s many great properties as a material.

The Sheep Education Centre

This area shared information about wool’s amazing properties and facts about the wool industry in Canada and around the world.

‘New Voices in Wool’ Art Exhibition

Located in the Fair’s Heritage Court, this exhibition featured textile work created by five artists from the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCAD U) Material Art & Design (MAAD) program.  The work included sculptures, wall-hangings, rugs and garments that help to capture the versatility and beauty of wool.  Art works were selected through a competitive, juried process.

Wool Care Demonstrations

The Campaign for Wool and retail partner Ca Va de Soi presented a series of interactive and engaging demonstrations throughout the day to demystify what it takes to look after fine wool knitwear and other wool clothing items.  Presented by the expert atelier’s from Ca Va de Soi’s own in-house care service Ca Va Bain.

Fashion Friday at The Royal Horse Show

The Campaign for Wool in partnership with the Holts Project for Holt Renfrew, brought together Canadian fashion powerhouses Line, Smythe and Mikhael Kale, to create an exclusive limited-edition capsule collection. This is available in store and was also showcased at the opening VIP reception at the Royal Horse Show Fashion Friday. Highlighting wool as the ideal eco-friendly alternative to environmentally harmful man-made fibres and micro-fibres the collection profiled models wearing the wool pieces made from iconic British mill fabrics, including Abraham Moons & Sons, Holland & Sherry, Locharon of Scotland.
