Australian Woolgrowers visit UK Textile manufactures

A group of 20 Australian wool growers, who produce fine Merino wool from 17.5 to 21 micron, and a wool trader handling 16 to 32 micron wool visited the UK to experience the various processing stages of taking wool fleece through fibre spinning to yarn, the weaving of fine worsted and woollen fabrics.

Accompanied by Peter Ackroyd, COO of the Campaign, with mill visits arranged to Woolmark licensees in Yorkshire to Z Hinchliffe for yarn spinning, and AW Hainsworth to showcase fine Merino wool weaving, before travelling to Scotland to Johnstons of Elgin to see their fine luxury Merino processing before travelling to the Isle of Harris and Lewis to visit Harris Tweed Hebrides.

Returning to London to Savile Row in the heart of Mayfair and the iconic tailoring region, visiting Anderson & Sheppard, Gieves & Hawkes and Henry Poole.

Ahead of visiting the surrounding menswear garment stores in Jermyn Street, and international retailers Selfridges, Harrods and Marks & Spencer to see first-hand the extensive range of wool products.
