Demonstration of peg loom weaving with Sharon Smith of Wild Welsh Wool at Holland & Sherry, 31 Savile Row, London W1S 3PT
Sharon Smith hails from Warwickshire from where she started spinning sheep fleeces, tapestry weaving and peg loom weaving.
Following the renovation of Glyn Canol Old Farm in Mid Wales, which was abandoned for 80 years, Sharon moved there in December 2015, purchasing rare breed British sheep and castle.
Her wool crafting continued and the start of Wild Welsh Wool, a small wool business using British native sheep breed fleeces, began.
The rare breed sheep that Sharon keeps are primarily Hill Radnor, Manx Loaghtan and Greyface Dartmoor together with other native breeds, providing a variety of textured and coloured fleeces to work with.
Sharon is delighted to bring her rare breed fleeces to Holland & Sherry, Savile Row to celebrate Wool Month and Campaign for Wool on 9 and 10 October 2024 and to share the wonders of wool through demonstrations and 3 hands on sessions*
Sharon is a member of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust RBST and the Hill Radnor Flock Book Society
