CELEBRATING ‘WOOL MONTH’ BRORA COLLABORATES WITH SCOTTISH ART STUDENT & BRITISH FASHION BRAND BEULAH

Brora have supported the Campaign since its inception and have run a student design competition each year, taking the winning design through to Limited Edition production.

In support of the Campaign for Wool, an initiative close to the heart of the British monarch, and in time for Wool Month, Brora have teamed with the University of Dundee to create a beautiful one-off jumper in this versatile, earth-friendly and cosy fabric. Under some stiff competition from her peers, student Isobelle Brogan Hadley’s jumper design came out tops. Inspired by Scottish maritime history, particularly the traditional crafts of net and rope making, she re-emphasised BRORA’s long-held values of slow fashion, considered design and British-made, high quality sustainable fabrics, also mirroring the ethos of the Campaign.

The result is a striking graphic knit made from 100% pure new wool, intricately crafted in seafaring shades of indigo and aquamarine.

“Every year we celebrate the Campaign for Wool by giving a live project to the final year students at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. This year, the calibre of work from the students was outstanding, but we feel Isobelle just tipped the balance. Her design porftolio was a joy to peruse, and I’m thrilled to have such a unique jumper in our AW23 Collection.” Victoria Stapleton, Founder & Creative Director.

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee’s Programme Director of Textiles Design Claire Adholla: “We always enjoy working with Brora, and eagerly look forward to Octobers’ launch of a new DJCAD for Brora, Wool Month jumper. It’s such an exciting moment for the winning student to see their design materialise, be styled and professionally photographed and shared with the world.”

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee student of ‘Textile Design’ Isobelle Brogan Hadley: “I have long admired Brora for their commitment to sustainable practices and craft heritage, so collaborating with them was a dream. Working with them has given me valuable insight into commercial textile design and production, and helped me to refine new skills, which I will take forward.”

During the same commemorative month, Brora will also be launching a limited edition polo in merino lambswool in collaboration with British brand Beulah,a luxury label that empowers vulnerable women through fashion.

The feminine Fair Isle knit in ecru and midnight, features a sweeping love heart patterned yoke, ditsy dot pattern, elegant high neck and elongating sleeves in this sumptuously super soft fabric. Hearts are a familiar motif among Beulah’s designs. Crafted with love indeed.

Brora’s Founder and Creative Director Victoria Stapleton: “We hope you are as charmed as us by Beulah’s first foray into Fair Isle. This adorably chic jumper is made from our beautiful quality merino lambswool, using a technique honed from three decades in knitwear design.”

Beulah’s Founder Natasha Finch: “We’re thrilled to have partnered with Brora to create this very special piece. It represents the perfect bridging of British brands. With iconic luxury you expect from Brora, combined with our signature heart print in the softest merino, it is a must-have for the season ahead!”
