ELLE Rising Star Design Award winner, Tamara Chérie Dyson

A love of mohair and lamb’s wool sparked the winning design collaboration between Tamara Chèrie Dyson, the 2014 ELLE Rising Star Design Award winner, and Stephanie Bentum – owner of Krafthaus and 2014 Campaign for Wool participant.

Tamara used a blend of kid Angora mohair and Merino lamb’s wool to create a wonderfully elegant collection of reworked classics, featuring statement coats and bomber jackets. To add a touch of magic, she introduced Stephanie’s winning ‘Fling bag’. It is the second time that these two South African women collaborate successfully through the use of locally sourced natural fabrics.

“Tamara blew us away with her refined and sophisticated collection,” exclaimed MRP trend director and Rising Star judge, Joanne Frédéric. “Her innovation in developing fabrics locally was definitely a standout element for us. She will no doubt show the global market what African design talent is all about.”

A 2015 MULTI-SEASONAL LUXURY WOMENSWEAR COLLECTION

The proposal of a new model to the standard seasonal collection, whereby one collection-concept is simultaneously filtered into correlating designs for both a Spring/Summer and an Autumn/Winter range.

This innovative concept addresses the seasonality constraints of the South African brand being based within the opposite hemisphere to that of its international target market and provides the collection with year-round, worldwide relevance irrespective of varying global seasonality differences. A luxury women’s ready-to-wear collection showcasing discreet indulgence through carefully considered design, an underlying minimalistic approach, and a flawless aesthetic.

Influenced by line, shape, and form of Bauhaus architectural design, stark linear shapes contrasted with fluid, curved lines flow throughout the range in both striking and subtle ways. The use of predominately natural fabrics and understated textural contrasts, together with meticulous attention to detail and finishing, create garments of simple perfection with a high-end mood.

Stripped back and designed with a modern edge, the Geometrics collection displays perfect control and balance between the fundamental design elements.
