First tailor and weaver partnerships announced for ‘Sheep on the Row’

Monday 5th October sees the return of sheep to Savile Row as the Campaign for Wool stages the biggest event the street has ever seen: Over 200 metres of the finest cloth, 80 metres of grass pasture, 60 sheep, 25 models, 25 bespoke menswear outfits, 25 tailoring houses from Savile Row, The West End and The City of London, 28 weavers and merchants, two specially constructed wool sheds and a sheepdog!

Over the next 3 weeks we’ll be shining the spotlight on the tailoring houses and weavers and merchants who have partnered to create the bespoke looks being shown on the day.

The Woolmark Company’s Wool Lab A/W 15 / 16 key trends

Firstly three key trends from The Woolmark Company’s Wool Lab A/W 15 / 16 trend sourcing guide were identified and these formed the creative brief to the partners who then jointly chose one theme to base their outfit on.

Bespoke

This theme speaks for itself, Savile Row is the spiritual home of menswear, an industry now worth £14bn a year globally, and the Bespoke trend is intended to showcase the finest worsted cloth available.

Icelandic

This theme is an unusual departure for many of the participants, being much more focused on a rugged, outdoors look comprised of textures, chunky knitwear and a mixture of worsted and woollen cloth, including tweed.  Fine merino next to skin and wool shirting also features.

Traveller

Layered fabrics sit alongside tweed, worsted cloth and wool shirting in this trend inspired by the global outlook of the Savile Row man.
