Where to buy handmade – a Christmas crafts round-up

Christmas markets are a traditional part of seasonal celebration in England. Aside from a brief stint from 1644 to 1660 (during which time Christmas celebrations were banned under the rule of Oliver Cromwell), the Christmas market has long been a place to share beautiful handmade crafts, delicious food and warm drinks.
This year is no different! With plenty of craft fairs and markets selling their woolly wares and handmade Christmas gifts up and down the country, we’ve put together a little list of some of the bigger events. Read on to find out more…

The Cabbages & Frocks Market is well known for its beautiful fashion and delicious food. A great place to find new designers and homemade crafts, this one will be running each weekend from the beginning of December until Christmas.

The Crafty Fox Market is a dedicated craft fair with an art & design market, stalls, crafting workshops and more. This one will take place on the 8th and 9th of December.

The Designers/Makers Market is part of the festival village in London. This amazing market will play host to 50 UK crafters and designers – a great place to find some woolly Christmas gifts that you won’t find anywhere else. The market will run from the 14th – 16th December

Christmas Markets span most of Manchester city centre during the festive season, with every square playing host to some celebrations, whether it be the Ice Rink in Piccadilly Gardens or the German Market on St Anns Square. The celebrations take place from the 17th – 23rd December.
Where? The European Christmas Market will be situated on Albert Square.

A little piece of Germany returns to Leeds as the popular Christkindelmarkt sets up stall once again. The scenic winter village, consisting of over 40 traditional wooden chalet stalls will be the perfect place to unearth some unique, hand crafted woollen treasures this Christmas

It is no secret that they know how to do festivals in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh Christmas festival is considered to be one of the best in the world. With a bevy of amazing attractions, the Design and Makers Christmas fair will take place on the 15th December and will feature a host of hand-crafted goodies from local artists and designers.
