This year marks our Patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, 70th birthday. To coincide with this, a series of events are taking place throughout the year to celebrate the work carried out by HRH.
The Campaign for Wool Council members were invited to join HRH, along with 6,500 people from 386 of HRH’s patronages, as well as people representing all 18 of HRH’s military affiliations, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. The event was held to celebrate the achievements of His Royal Highness’ Patronages, Military affiliations, the charities HRH supports & others involved in public service. The Duke of Sussex gave a speech at the beginning of the celebration, where he said for his father, The Prince of Wales: “His enthusiasm and energy are truly infectious; it has certainly inspired William and I to get involved in issues we care passionately about and to do whatever we can to make a difference. In fact, many of the issues William and I now work on are subjects we were introduced to by our father growing up. “His passion and dedication are remarkable and seeing so many of you here today, I cannot fail but to be in awe of the drive he has had for so many years, to contribute to the enrichment of society both in this country and around the world.”
The Campaign for Wool also took part in a special parade to celebrate The Duke of Cornwall’s 70th birthday in the main arena of the The Royal Cornwall Show. This event was organised by The Royal Show and The Prince’s Countryside Fund as a celebration of the countryside and Charities His Royal Highness supports. Displays included, the ‘Fabric of the Countryside’, ‘Flora and Fauna’, ‘Livestock and Leisure’, ‘Waterways’, ‘Food and Farming’, as well as ‘Landscapes and Communities’.
