In Part 5 of our #OneWool nominations we have Abaca, Abbotsford, Cushlab, Freya and Harlequin.
We are wild about sleep and wild about using wool at Abaca, the West Wales organic mattress business.
An amazing 16 fleeces go into each mattress.
Abaca was set up more than nine years ago as a pioneer of the use of organic textiles.
The company has established an impressive customer base which includes retailers like John Lewis.
All the materials used to make an Abaca mattress are totally natural, produced without the use of chemicals or pesticides.
The wool is sourced from organic farms in Wales and licensed by the British Wool Board.
Abaca was the first organic mattress manufacturer in the UK to be certified by the Soil Association. It remains the only one to be certified in Wales.

My feature piece, HUSH, is constructed from a single piece of 10mm industrial wool felt. HUSH is manufactured in Durham by Ness Furniture, by skilled craftsmen and women, supporting and revitalizing Britain’s ancient heritage of makers. The other pieces in the range are also made from wool felt, often drawing inspiration from its incredible insulating properties.
