In this Part 3 of our OneWool nominations we have Cristian Zuzunaga, Melin Tregwynt, Brintons and Solid Wool

CRISTIAN ZUZUNAGA

“I have submitted the throw called Dark Squares, one of our latest editions to the Handwoven collection calledIntegrate: Time and Space. The whole collection is made using 100% ecological French merino wool. It is handwoven in Terrassa, Spain by Teixidors*

I have selected this particular product because it is Made in Europe using a manual loom. It represents and exalts Europe’s particular history while reflecting a contemporary way of living. Dark Squares also represents sustainability, local produce, quality and through its colour and texture a sense of modernity is inherently achieved, thus marrying old and new in one piece.” Cristian Zuzunaga.

MELIN TREGWYNT

We’ve chosen our Vintage Rose design. A double-cloth fabric, traditionally woven here in Wales, where each mill had their own special design, its roots go back over 50 years. Re-launched this year in a fresh palette of colours it’s woven from 100% British spun wool and is suitable for contract and domestic upholstery.

Melin Tregwynt first established in 1912 is still a working mill, employing over 30 people. Woollen fabrics woven in this quiet corner of West Wales have found their niche in a world market and over the last few years sales and production have more than doubled.

BRINTONS

Renaissance Classics by Brintons

“As a design-led company Brintons’ archive is a unique reference tool and point of true inspiration to our clients and our highly skilled design team that clearly distinguishes us from our competitors. Renaissance Classics creates scene-setting floors in top quality 80 per cent wool and 20 per cent nylon woven axminster. Full of romantic scrolls and delicate ‘palmette’ motifs, our Renaissance range of 11 designs with 5 complementary runners is inspired by the golden age of Persian art and literature. ”

SOLID WOOL

”Solidwool is a unique, beautiful and sustainable composite material manufactured from lower grade UK wool fleece, almost considered a bi-product of farming highland sheep.  It uses wool as a natural, sustainable substitute for glass or carbon as the reinforcement in a composite material.

The Hembury Chair is our first product to showcase the Solidwool material. A contemporary design, with metal sub frame and Ash legs, it is inspired by the original mid century fibreglass chairs. Designed and manufactured in Devon, all other components are UK sourced. ”
