Q&A Ligne Roset

The Campaign for Wool spoke to Victoria Murray from Ligne Roset to discuss the interiors brand’s relationship with wool.

Please tell us a little about yourselves and how your business/designs/products utilise wool?

For many, the Ligne Roset brand is synonymous with luxury, and has come to symbolise an elegant way of life. Known for its collaborations with the foremost talents in contemporary design, Ligne Roset presents the consumer with a lifestyle choice, complementing its furniture collections with decorative accessories, lighting, rugs, textiles and occasional items. Ligne Roset use wool of filling, upholstery, rugs and accessories

What makes you choose wool over other fibres? What is your favourite thing about wool?

It is naturally fire retardant and provides longevity and natural strength

By what means do you source your wool?

We work with Kravdrat, a multinational textile manufacturing company to source wool for our products.

What does the Campaign for Wool mean to you?

A celebration of design using one of our most beautiful natural fibres

The interiors landscape is forever changing, what does 2014/15 hold for you as a brand?

The Roset Group is distinguished from other manufacturers by its tradition of close collaboration with both established and emerging designers. Matching its deeply held belief in design with investment and technical innovation, it possesses the knowledge and ability to build and consolidate a worldwide distribution network.

Fabric technologies, particularly those using wool have advanced so rapidly over the last few years, has this affected your trade and work?

Yes, with the lighter weight weave of the wool we are able to create new shapes of furniture with curves such as the Ploum and the Fraga.

How does using woollen cloths differ to other man-made materials?

It is easily malleable and has a natural textured finish, which adds an extra dimension the piece.

What demand have you seen from your customers with regards to favouring wool over synthetic fibres?

We are noticing that customers are requesting wool more than in previous years.

Are there any plans to introduce more wool in to your collection?

We are always looking to extend our fabric offering and are looking forward to increasing our use of wool.
