The Bradford Textile Society Design Competition has been running for almost one hundred years and is probably the largest textile design competition in the UK and one of the most highly regarded due to the breadth of textile areas covered.

There are 12 sections covering Knit, Print, Weave, Mixed Textile Processes, Innovative Processes and/or Materials and Textile Design with Illustration/Visualisation.

The various sections cover textiles for both fashion and interiors.  In addition there are a number of Special Awards which are chosen from the Prize-winning and Commended entries.  The Prize Fund exceeds £10,000 and other prizes include expense-paid trips to PV Paris in September and work placements.

All work submitted is judged by experts provided the rules, as set out in the Prospectus, are followed, so every entry has an equal chance of being selected for a prize.

The Prospectus for the competition can be downloaded from the website – and the deadline for entry is March 10th – take a look:

As in previous years the British Wool Marketing Board has kindly agreed to supply wool for entries to the Design Competition – Section B1. If you would like to receive a box of samples from the BWMB to help you make a selection for your entry, please email Haldi Kranich-Wood (haldikw@britishwool.org.uk) to arrange this.

The Competition is sponsored by many organisations, including The Campaign for Wool, British Wool Marketing Board and The Woolmark Company. (both companies are funding partners of the CFW).
