Wonderful wool staples for winter

Wool, the wear-with-everything style staple we couldn’t live without!

Early November is the perfect time to update your wardrobe with all things warm and fuzzy, so we have compiled a seasonal collection of woolly items that effortlessly sync with your favourite pieces. These layering options are lightweight but warm and perfect for unpredictable weather.

There’s a lot more to wool than just knits. Unlike cotton or synthetics, wool is a great insulator that reacts to changes in body temperature to conserve your body heat. It will keep you warm even when those extra layers don’t seem to do the trick.

Here is a selection of our favourite winter woollies for the upcoming season:

The Chunky Knit

The chunky, oh-so-cuddly cable knit works every time and will do more than earn its keep this winter. Invest in this cosy Aran jumper from Jigsaw, carefully crafted in soft merino wool or the wool rich cable jumper from M&S Best of British knitwear range to update your winter look.

The Classic Polo

Hail the return of the classic cosy silhouette that not only keeps us snug but also serves as an easy, lightweight-layering piece. Try this merino roll neck jumper from Barbour; it’s the perfect layer for colder days and crafted from 100% merino wool. Or why not wrap up in this slouchy boucle funnel neck jumper from Jigsaw, created in a brilliant wool blend for a soft and stylish option.

The Wool Coat

The British wool coat is a solid statement this season and one guaranteed to keep you warm and toasty. It’s runway approved and elegant to elevate your favourite outfit. Be inspired by this timeless long wool coat or take cues from military heritage with a Short Wool Jacket, both by Barbour and made from a luxurious wool blend.

The Daily Essentials

Say hello to toasty toes with these British wool socks. They’re warm, comfy and hardwearing making them ideal for everyday use. This winter we’d recommend keeping warm with these Exmoor wool socks from John Arbon, made from local Exmoor sheep.
