Wool makes an impact at London Collections: Men

The trans-seasonal benefits of woollen clothing could be seen across London Collections: Men earlier this month, as wool featured heavily across designers’ SS15 collections.

Eccentric knitwear brand Sibling featured massive, punk crochet and rebellious knitted masks, taking woollen art to centre stage with their bright red pompom creation. Taking a more integral approach, Moschino’s Jeremy Scott, used wool in his London debut as he presented a stand out stars and stripes knitted cardigan.

Burberry Prorsum embraced wool into its SS15 accessories with floppy woollen felt hats in azure blues and sunburnt yellows, worn by models throughout the show, cementing wool as a trend piece for the warmer seasons.

Establishing the SS15 merino wool trend, boutique British knitwear brand John Smedly, showcased a 1930’s swimwear inspired collection. ‘Sea Fever’ featured a new and innovative dying technique that produced a distinctive and contemporary anti-graduation effect proving once again that the boundaries of wool in fashion are limitless.

Across the board, wool seems to have transcended the seasons and become a SS15 staple. Whether it’s through fine knitted cardigans or a merino wool t-shirt, wool will be making its way into wardrobes throughout 2015.
