Wool Week 2015: Wool in Interiors

Every year, Wool Week presents a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with designers, exhibitors, students, retailers and enthusiasts to showcase one fantastic fibre – wool.

Here are some of our highlights from wool in interiors for Wool Week 2015:

Capsu-Wool

We love a pop-up here in London! Our interior incarnation for Wool Week encapsulated the contemporary small living space with dynamic colour and style. Including a truly bespoke vignette inspired by the nearby Savile Row – this wool interiors pop-up positioned wool for people wanting sustainable authenticity and flawless good taste! Many people stopped by over the course of the week to see a very stylish look at wool for the compact interior space.

Wool Open House

The Campaign for Wool’s pop up gallery opened up this year throughout Wool Week. Crafters, knitters and wool enthusiasts came along to 4 Clifford Street to see a variety of the projects we’ve worked on throughout the year to promote our favourite fibre.

A series of free artisan workshops were put on where everyone could get their hands on the soft stuff and pick up some new skills or simply be inspired by our stunning interior lounge that celebrated using wool imaginatively in compact spaces. We also had spinners at our Capsu-Wool pop-up all week long for those that missed any of the workshops.

Special thanks Conway & Bliss, R&B, Marie Wallin and Craft Revolution who led the workshops throughout the week.

Counting Sheep at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour

A flock of ‘ewe-nique’ cartoon sheep were discovered grazing in the north dome of Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour! Part of a wider trend for artists and illustrators turning their talents to interiors, the irresistible doodle-style flock in tones of red, pink and orange was specially commissioned to show colourful wool fabrics from some of the most important names in the industry. Fun, witty and ingenious, it became a must visit during Wool Week.

TwinSpin

Throughout the year, TwinSpin will pair you with an enthusiast who will help you learn the impressive art of spinning yarn. If you are a textile student, a knitter, a crafter – you can be dyed in the wool or new to the wool – it’s just about interest and enthusiasm! The objective of the Association is the preservation and improvement of the craftsmanship in hand weaving, spinning and dyeing for the benefit of the public and the promotion of public education in such craftsmanship.
